SADDLEWORTH cum Quick, a parochial chapelry, in the parish of Rochdale [in Lancashire], wapentake of Agbrigg and Morley, W. riding of York, 12 miles (N. E. by E.) from Manchester, and 12 (S. W. by W.) from Huddersfield; containing, in the year 1841, 16,829 inhabitants.^[1]

Saddleworth St Chad's was originally a chapelry standing within the large parish boundary of Rochdale St Chad's just across the Yorkshire/Lancashire border (in Lancashire). It was a parochial chapelry in that it held some ecclesiastical authority over several chapelries nearby, on the Yorkshire side of this (Rochdale) parish, including Delph, Dobcross, Friermere, and Lydgate. Most of St Chad's original parish registers and its attached chapelries and their registers are found at the Manchester Central Library Local Studies Unit, Lancashire, England, or, a few may still be in local custody (held at the local chapel).

While a few of the above chapelries and St Chad's parish burial registers do not currently have online indexed content after 1800, FamilySearch does have microfilm copies of the original Bishop's transcripts and/or parish registers for most of Saddleworth and its chapels of ease. These may be circulated to and searched at any of its 4600 FamilySearch Centers worldwide.

FamilySearch has also microfilmed these original registers from 1613-1935 and they are available by visiting any one of its 4,600 satellite FamilySearch Centers, worldwide.
