Obituaries can provide dates and places of important events, names of relatives, place of burial, occupations, places of abode throughout one’s life, and other valuable information.
Obituaries appear in newspapers, church magazines, society magazines, and similar sources. Surviving or microfilmed copies of these sources are located in archives and libraries throughout New Zealand. See [[New Zealand Archives and Libraries for addresses.
