The population is 98% Muslim, most of them Turks, while Muslim Kurds constitute about 17% of the total population. Two-thirds of the Muslims in Türkiye belong to the Sunni branch of Islam, with the other third as Shiites. The Kurds are also Sunni Muslims. |
