Article description: (description) This attribute controls the content of the description and og:description elements. | The 7th Kentucky volunteer Cavalry was organized at Paris, Kentucky, in August, 1862, under Colonel Leonidas Metcalfe. Unequipped and untrained they were sent into the battle of Big Hill, Kentucky; suffering great loss of officers and soldiers. Colonel Metcalfe resigned and the regiment, under the command of Col. Faulkner fought in many battles and won the commendation from the Commanding General.[1] |
