The 4th Independent Battery, Ohio Light Artillery mustered in August 17, 1861 at Cincinnati, Ohio. The non-veterans were mustered out August 29, 1864. Veterans and recruits were attached to Artillery Reserve, Nashville, Tennessee, that was attached to 10th Ohio Battery until March, 1865. They were transferred to 10th Ohio Battery March 19, 1865.
