The Third Regiment, Kentucky Volunteer Infantry, was organized at Camp Dick Robinson, under Colonel Thomas F. Bramlette. They were mustered into the United States service on October 8, 1861. Their regiment was reduced by illness, at Columbia, from over 500 to less than 300 men. After many battles the men were mustered out at Nashville on the 18th day of October, 1864. Some also veteranized. [1]
