The 37th Kentucky Volunteer Infantry was organized under Col. Chas D. Ilanson, in the summer of 1863, and Companies A - C were mustered into the United States service at Glasgow, Kentucky September 17th 1863. Companies D – G mustered in October 24th 1863 also at Glasgow. Companies H – K were mustered in by December 29th, 1863. The regiment was mustered out December 29th, 1864, at Louisville, Kentucky, the enlisted men being transferred to the 55th, Kentucky Infantry.[1]
