Information
Yemen is located in the southwestern corner of the Arabian Peninsula, bordered by Saudi Arabia to the north, Oman to the east, the Red Sea to the west, and the Gulf of Aden to the south. Throughout its history, Yemen has seen periods of independent rule by kingdoms such as Saba and Himyar anciently and later the Zaydi Imamate after the rise of Islam. Colonial influences have included the Ottoman Empire and the British Empire before becoming the Republic of Yemen in 1990. The main spoken language is Arabic.
