County Information

Description

The county was named for Robert McAlpin Williamson (1804?–1859), a community leader and a veteran of the Battle of San Jacinto. The first Anglo-American settlement was in 1835 and was known as Tumlinson Fort. The county is located in the central area of the state.[1]
