History

The area where Villaspeciosa is located was inhabited since the Nuragic period. In the Roman period the area had a considerable development.

Jurisdictions:

  • In the Middle Ages, it belonged to the Judicate of Cagliari and was part of the curator of Decimo.
  • After the fall of the Judicate (1258), it passed under the dominion of the Pisan family of Della Gherardesca.
  • From 1324 it became part of the Kingdom of Sardinia, in the Crown of Aragon.
  • In 1421, the King of Aragon Alfonso V the Magnanimous granted the feud to the Tola family.
  • In 1490 the lordship passed to the Torello who sold it with royal consent.
  • A few years later it was incorporated into the barony of Monastir, a feud first of the Bellit and then of the Bon Crespi di Valdaura, who had it as a dowry until 1839.
  • In 1839, in the Savoy era, the feudal system was abolished on the island. [1]
