History
The first documentation of a Roman settlement in Valle, in the locality of Zignone, predates both the villa found in Cogozzo and the aqueduct.
Jurisdictions:
- Roman Period: The territory was under Roman rule, evidenced by the construction of the Roman aqueduct in the first century AD.
- Medieval Period: Following the fall of the Roman Empire, the territory was conquered by the Goths, then the Longobards, and later the Franks under Carlo Magno.
- 1404: Pandolfo Malatesta granted a statute to the territory from Carcina to Collio.
- 1421: The statutes granted by Pandolfo Malatesta were revoked upon the return of the Milanese seigniory.
- 1426: Brescia revolted against Filippo Maria Visconti and gave itself to the Republic of Venice.
- 1436: Valtrompia enjoyed fiscal exemptions and administrative autonomy under Venetian rule.
- 1511: Valligiani favorable to Venice gathered in the castle of Villa.
Major events:
- In 402, the territory of Brescia, including Villa Carcina, was affected by the Gothic hordes of Alaric.
- In 568, the territory was conquered by the Goths, and later by the Longobards, who held power until 774.
- In 1512, the Sacking of Brescia occurred. Residents of Villa Carcina who favored Venice gathered in the Avogadro family's castle.
- In 1882, the Mella river flooded, inundating the towns of Cogozzo and Pregno and destroying the Pregno bridge.[1]
