French and Spanish Colonization (1706-1710)
French and Spanish forces seized the islands in 1706. British forces reclaimed the islands for Bermuda in 1710. [1]

British Colonization (1783-present)
In 1710, the British captured the islands for Bermuda, The islands officially became a British colony with the Treaty of Paris in 1783. Continues today as a British Overseas Territory. [2] [3]
