History

Torbole was already the site of prehistoric settlements and was colonized by the Romans starting from the 1st century AD. In the 7th century a small monastery dedicated to San Martino was founded in the Portone area, around which the village probably grew. Casaglia was a village that was not very developed in Roman times.

Jurisdictions:

  • In the year 841 the lands became the property of the Brescian monastery of San Faustino Maggiore.
  • In the 13th century the territory was given as a fief to the Palazzi.
  • In the 14th century it passed to Boccaccino di Andrista di Vallecamonica, in 1422 to the Milanese Giacomo Amigoni and then to the Cazzago.
  • Torbole was involved in the military events of the 15th century.
  • In 1880 Casaglia was incorporated into the municipality of Torbole.

Major events:

  • Torbole was involved in the military events of the 15th century, including the presence of Roberto di San Severino's troops, who left after the Peace of Bagnolo in 1484.
  • Radical reclamation works were carried out in Casaglia, which completely erased the malarial marshes, allowing a healthier life and the systematic birth of new settlements.[1]
