The location was inhabited during the 15th century (from the union of two hamlets: Petra and Catella).
Jurisdictions:
- 1566: Purchased by Giovanni Ceva Grimaldi.
- 1606: Giovan Francesco Ceva Grimaldi appointed first Marquis of Pietracatella.
- 1609: Giovannantonio Ceva Grimaldi obtained the title of Duke of Telese.
