The location was inhabited during the 15th century (from the union of two hamlets: Petra and Catella).

Jurisdictions:

• 1566: Purchased by Giovanni Ceva Grimaldi.
• 1606: Giovan Francesco Ceva Grimaldi appointed first Marquis of Pietracatella.
• 1609: Giovannantonio Ceva Grimaldi obtained the title of Duke of Telese.

Major events:

• Earthquake of 1456: May have contributed to the union of the two hamlets.
