Census and Inhabitants Lists
Jury Censuses
A jury census was taken in 1816, 1819, and 1821 for the purpose of determining jury eligibility. This census covers Manhattan. Each ward has a census book and the census is arranged by address within the book. It includes the following information: name, age, occupation (head of household), number in household, race, and citizenship of the people in the household. This census is available at the New York City Municipal Archives. Their website includes an image of the 1819 Jury Census, Manhattan, Second Ward.
