The Palace of Cortés can be seen in two dimensions: the first from an architectural point of view, which refers to the different stages of its construction in the 16th century. Built on the ruins of the headquarters of the Señorío de Cuauhnáhuac, it was later used as a Catholic temple, palace of the conqueror and his family, prison, palace of the Republic and headquarters of the State Government. The second is its nature as a museum and cultural center since February 1974, since it houses an important collection of paleontological, archaeological, historical and artistic assets that describe and illustrate the future of the state of Morelos.

The museum is located in a two-level quadrangular colonial building. It has six halls for temporary exhibitions and six halls for permanent exhibitions; a large central courtyard and elevator. Access by Avenida Morelos, associated with the architectural complex of the cathedral. Since its origins in the 16th century, the building has had an enormous presence in the religious, social and cultural life of the City; That is why it is not by chance that it is now a reference point to delve into the natural and social history of Cuernavaca. It exhibits a retrospective of the life of General Emiliano Zapata Salazar and on the ground floor of the museum there are temporary exhibitions.

There are 42 museums in 16 municipalities in the State of Morelos. Here is the website: State of Morelos Museums.
