County Information

Description

Mobile County was created on 1 August 1812 and was named for the indigenous Maubila tribe.[2] Its county seat is Mobile.[3] It is located in the southwestern area of the state.[4]

Record Loss

Mobile County had destructive courthouse fires in 1823, 1840, and 1872,[7] and was damaged by a severe windstorm in 1916.
