Description[edit | edit source]

The county was named for the Llano River. The county is located in the central area of the state.[3]

County Clerk has birth and death records from 1903, marriage, land, probate and court records from 1880 and military records from 1919.
District Clerk has divorce and naturalization records.[4]

Record Loss[edit | edit source]

  • 1873 Courthouse and many county records were destroyed by fire in December 1873.
  • 1880 The Llano County Courthouse and records destroyed by fire in October 1880.[6]
  • 1892 The Llano County Courthouse, built in 1885, was destroyed by fire on January 23, 1892. Papers and records of the clerks office were the only records saved.[7]
  • 1932 The tower and parts of the interior of the Llano County Courthouse, built in 1893, was damaged by fire in Sept 1932. [8][9]
  • 1951 The second and third floors of the Llano County Courthouse, built in 1893, were damaged by fire, December 17, 1951. Some older county records were destroyed.[10]
