History

The area was inhabited in prehistoric times, evidenced by the discovery of hill forts. A specific founding date for the town itself isn't given.

Jurisdictions:

  • 12th Century: Part of the Episcopal Principality of Trento.
  • 1183: Fief granted to Arnoldo and Anselmo dei Livo di Metz by the prince bishop of Trento. Later became vassals of the counts of Tyrol.
  • After the end of the Episcopal Principality: Included in a municipality headed by Preghena.
  • 1817: Became an autonomous municipality.
  • 1928: Bresimo, Cis, and Preghena were added to the municipality of Livo.
  • 1948: Bresimo and Cis became independent again, leading to the current municipal structure.

Major events:

  • 1183: Fiefdom granted to the Livo family.
  • Marginally involved in the rustic war, remaining mostly loyal to the Prince Bishop.
  • December 11, 1880: Violent fire in Livo.[1]
