History

Larah is a parish that is partly in the barony of Upper Loughtee but chiefly in that of Tullaghgarvey, county of Cavan, and province of Ulster. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Kilmore.

The Roman Catholic church has two divisions in this district. They are divided into Upper and Lower Larah, and has chapels at Larah and Cleffernah.

The parish of Larah is surrounded by the parishes of Annagelliffe, Castleterra, Drung, Kildrumsherdan, Killinkere, Knockbride, and Lavey. It is located in the poor law unions of Cavan and Cootehill.

Civil Registration[edit | edit source]
