County Information

Description

Lamar County was created on 4 February 1867 and was named in honor of Senator Lucius Quintus Cincinnatus Lamar, a member of the United States Senate from Mississippi.[2] Its county seat is Vernon.[3] It is located in the northwestern area of the state.
