History
Brief Timeline
1782-1783: Smallpox epidemic
1830-1833: Malaria epidemic
1834: Methodist mission established by Reverend Jason Lee
1839: Roman Catholic missionaries were in the area
1841: Some of the Kalapuya children began attending school at the Methodist-run Indian Manual Labor Training School near Salem.
1851: Treaty, cede land in Willamette Valley
1854: Umpqua Treaty
1855: Treaties are renegotiated tribe moved to Grand Ronde Reservation

Reservations
Most of the Kalapuya were removed to the Grand Ronde Reservation. Some were alao associated with the Siletz Reservation, the Warm Springs Reservation, and the Yakama Reservation.

Some records may be available to tribal members through the tribal headquarters.They were (and are) the local office of the Bureau of Indian Affairs, and were charged with maintaining records of the activities of those under their responsibility.
