On the fiche version an 'X' on the right of the Film Number means that this film has been extracted and thus entries will appear on the IGI. If the entry is on the IGI, then the Page Number from the Place column can be used to quickly locate the correct entry.
Using Request for Photocopies Form
This is the least expensive method, and works for those civil registration certificates which have been microfilmed by FamilySearch. Note: You will need to quote the actual film number (not the batch number). The page number is helpful but is not given on the online IGI.

You will need to quote the District but you do not need to give the county. Some records may only be available at the FamilySearch Library in Salt Lake City, Utah. Microfilm ordering is no longer available.
Republic of Ireland
The legal currency of the Republic of Ireland is now the Euro (€). Visa and Mastercard are accepted by mail but not yet online. Send index details (year, quarter, volume and page #) and fees to:
- Civil Registration Service
General Register Office
Government Offices, Convent Road
Roscommon, Republic of Ireland
The website of The General Register Office lists the search fees and certificate prices, a history of civil registration in Ireland and a rather small map showing the Civil Registration Districts = Poor Law Unions.
Alternatively you may send to the appropriate local registrar whose addresses are given in Chart 12. Days and hours of opening, telephone numbers and updates to addresses can be found online. Local registrars can be especially helpful in sorting through several entries to find the correct one if you send additional details such as an address, parents’ names or occupations. District offices can now supply certificates from all districts for the following events:
- Births all Ireland 1864-1921
- Births Eire 1922-date
- Marriages Eire 1920-date
- Deaths Eire 1924-date
