History
Historically, Gladsax was one of Skåne's main counties governed from Gladsaxehus (former royal castle, now a ruin) between 1300 - 1600. Written as Glathsyas in 1322, the parish name is believed to be from an even earlier time. Meaning a bright or shining (glad) sword or knife (sax), it was to contrast with and appease the nearby dangerous river Tommarp. A Stone Age tomb used for generations dated to 3700 BCE and rock carvings from the Bronze Age confirm the area's early history.[1][2][3]
