History
While the name Garniga may derive from a 12th/13th-century event, when German miners (colonizers) arrived around that time. If pre-existing inhabitants were there, it is unknown.
Major events:
- 12th/13th Century: Arrival of German miners (colonists).
- Up to 1956: Isolation of the town, with limited road access.
- 1956: Opening of a road to vehicles, leading to economic and social changes, including a tourism boom.
- Recent years: Closure of several businesses and points of interest.[1]
