Task List
Instructions
1. Open the Task List, and add your name to the Name column for the municipality you want to sign up for.
2. Search for the municipality name on Wikipedia and find the correct corresponding page for your municipality.
- Note: the Wikipedia page should indicate the correct province and/or region the municipality belongs to, and it should match the province/region listed in the page name on the FS Wiki.
3. Translate your Wikipedia page into Italian by clicking on the Translate icon near the top-right corner of the article, and selecting "Italiano" from the dropdown.
Gemini AI
3. Open Gemini AI, and sign in with your Google account.
4. Copy the following, and paste it into the Gemini search:
- Replace "WIKIPEDIAPAGEURL" with the link to the municipality's Italian Wikipedia page
Can you extract the following information from this website? WIKIPEDIAPAGEURL *date or year the location was established/created/inhabited *what jurisdiction(s) the location belonged to at different periods of time *major historically significant events (fires, earthquakes, battles) that involved the location
5. Gemini should return an answer similar to this:
Note: If Gemini indicates that it wasn't able to get information from the Wikipedia article, but that it found some information from browsing Google or another website, do not include it in the History section of the Wiki page; you may copy/paste any other returned information/articles into the "Notes" column of the Task List.
Note: If Gemini was unable to return any information at all for any of those topics, skip the rest of these instructions, and put "NO RESULTS" in the Notes column of the task list.
Bonus hint: If the Wikipedia page has lots of information on it, but Gemini isn't returning any information, try right-clicking and translating the Wikipedia page (if you are using Google Chrome), copying the "History" section of the Wikipedia page, and pasting it into the Gemini AI box. It should prompt the AI to return the right information a little better.
6. Copy the pertinent parts of Gemini's answer, and paste it into the History heading on your municipality FS Wiki page. It may look similar to this:
Clean Up
7. Rephrase the "date or year established" information to say:
The municipality was created/established in XXXX.<br>
Note: Replace the XXXX with the year or date from Gemini, if it gave an exact year or date.
Note: If Gemini didn't return an exact date, but gave other relevant information, keep the phrasing of the location's origin as provided by Gemini (See Altino, Chieti FS Wiki page as an example). Read through to make sure the sentence(s) makes sense.
8. Rephrase the "Jurisdictions the location belonged to..." line to say:
Jurisdictions the municipality belonged to:<br>
OR
Jurisdictions:<br>
9. Add singular asterisks "*" before each jurisdiction listed to create a bulleted list below.
10. Rephrase the "Major historically significant events" line to say:
Major events:<Br>
Note: If Gemini states that it was unable to return historical events, saying something like "The document does not mention any major historically significant events...", etc., then delete that section of the History content.
11. Add singular asterisks "*" before each event listed to create a bulleted list below.
12. Now we need to add a reference for the Italian Wikipedia article where we got this information.
13. Copy and paste the following format at the very end of the last piece of History information:
<ref>Wikipedia contributors, "WIKIPEDIAARTICLENAME," in ''Wikipedia: the Free Encyclopedia'', WIKIPEDIAURL, accessed TODAYSDATE.</ref>
14. Replace the information in all CAPS with the corresponding information:
- WIKIPEDIAARTICLENAME: Name of the Italian Wikipedia article you references
- WIKIPEDIAURL: full link URL of the Italian Wikipedia article
- TODAYSDATE: the date you added the history to the page.
15. Click "Show preview" and double check the History section. If you fixed all the pieces of information correctly, it should look something like this (purple is the Show Preview display, green is the completed code):
16. If the Show Preview looks good, add the following statement to the Summary box:
Project adding municipality histories
17. Click "Save changes", and continue on to the next municipality in the Task List.
18. If you finish a Regions tab on the spreadsheet, change the tab color to green so that we know it has been completed.
