History

Falkenberg is a locality and the seat of Falkenberg Municipality, Halland County, Sweden. It is located at the mouth of the river Ätran. The name consists of the Swedish words for falcon and mountain.
Falkenberg was, together with the rest of the county, ceded to Sweden from Denmark in the mid 17th century. By then, it had been heavily affected by the many wars which since the 13th century had ravaged the county.
