Copenhagen Parish List

(Redirected from Copenhagen: Parish List)

The following list was adapted from handouts prepared by the National Archives in Copenhagen and other sources. The list shows the genealogy of parishes, listing both what parish it was previously part of and later divisions within a parish.

For example, if you know an ancestor was married in the Nazareth Church in 1902, you can see that it was created from the Skt. Johannes Parish in 1900 and that Nazareth Parish was divided in 1904 to create Freden Parish. After 1904 you will want to try both Nazareth and Freden Parishes and prior to 1900 you will want to try Skt. Johannes Parish.

This table is sorted alphabetically by by parish name using the Danish alphabet. Please note many of the early churches were organized before records were kept. No new churches or changes after 1988 are included in this table.

The table can be resorted by clicking on any column heading. The link in the Parish column will open the Research Wiki article about the parish. Links in the FamilySearch and ArkivallierOnline columns will open new windows where you can access the records on the respective sites.

Abbreviations used in the City columns are: Brn: Brønshøj; Frb, Fredriksberg; Gntf, Gentofte; Kbh, Copenhagen (København); Gld, Gladsaxe; Hvd, Hvidovre; Rdv, Rødovre.
