History
Many sepulchers can be traced back to a period ranging from the first century BC to the fourth century AD, suggesting an initial pre-Roman settlement of Gallo-Ligurian origin. The first parchment that mentions Comignago is dated 1046.
Jurisdictions:
- After the fall of the Roman Empire, the area fell under the jurisdiction of monks.
- In 1413, Comignago was annexed to the fiefdom of Borgo Ticino, which was assigned to the Visconti.
- Later, in 1447, Duke Filippo Maria Visconti handed over the fiefdom to Vitaliano Borromeo.[1]
