Description[edit | edit source]

The county was named for Richard Coke, the 15th governor of Texas. The county is located in the northwest area of the state.[2]

County Clerk has birth and death records from 1903, marriage, divorce, probate and court records from 1891 and land records from 1875.[3]

1891 Coke County Courthouse was destroyed by fire on January 30, 1891. All records were destroyed. [5]
