County Information

Description

Chilton County was created on 30 December 1868 and named for William Parish Chilton, Sr, an American politician and author who served as a Deputy from Alabama to the Provisional Congress of the Confederate States from 1861 to 1862.[2] Its county seat is Clanton.[3] It is located in the central area of the state.

Clerk Circuit Court has probate and divorce records, also court records from 1868. Probate Judge has marriage and land records.[4]
