County Information

Description

Calvert County was created 3 Jul 1654[2] and was named for Cecil Calvert, 2nd Baron Baltimore (1605–1675). Its county seat is Prince Frederick. It is located in the south-central area of the state.[3]

Record Loss

1882 Courthouse fire destroyed most of the records.[6]Some deeds from 1840-1882 were re-recorded, also abstracts at Annapolis 1784-1882, and provincial court and land office records were used to reconstruct lost deeds.
