Description

Calhoun County was created 26 Jan 1838[2] and was named for John C. Calhoun, member of the United States Senate from South Carolina and the seventh U.S. vice president, serving under John Quincy Adams and Andrew Jackson. Its county seat is Blountstown. It is located in the northwest area of the state.[3]

Tax listings, or digests, of a county generally list the taxable landowners and other polls and the amount of tax. The records for each county are divided by militia district.
