County Information
Description
Calhoun County was created 26 Jan 1838[2] and was named for John C. Calhoun, member of the United States Senate from South Carolina and the seventh U.S. vice president, serving under John Quincy Adams and Andrew Jackson. Its county seat is Blountstown. It is located in the northwest area of the state.[3]

Tax Records
Taxes were levied on free white males over 21 and slaves aged 21 to 60. These persons are referred to as "polls."
