History[edit | edit source]
Bronington is a village, ecclesiastical parish and community in the Wrexham in Wales.
Before 1974 the village was in the historic county of Flintshire and, between 1974 and 1996 in the County of Clwyd. In 1996 it became part of the modern Wrexham. This location was a township in Hanmer Parish. It was formed as an EP in 1836.
The parish of Bronington lies in the former detached part of the ancient county of Flintshire and was created in 1836, from part of the ancient parish of Hanmer.
The parish church of Holy Trinity (which was at one time known as New Fens Chapel) was converted from a former brick tithe barn in 1836 and later extended in 1863.
In 1872 the township of Bettisfield became a separate parish.
To the south of the village is Fenn's Moss, a large area of peat bog which is an important National Nature Reserve, rich in wildlife. This was formerly a major source of peat for fuel and later horticulture.
