County Information

Description

The county was named for Andrew Briscoe, a soldier during the Texas Revolution. Andrew Briscoe, merchant, patriot, judge, and railroad promoter, was born on November 25, 1810, on the plantation of his father, Parmenas Briscoe, in Claiborne County, Mississippi. The county is located in the northwest area of the state.[1]
