The County of Blekinge was created in 1683. It is the smallest county by geographical area in Sweden. The boundaries are identical to Blekinge landskap (Blekinge Province) that pre-dates the county. Before 1997, the county bordered with Kronoberg, Kalmar and Kristianstad Counties. Blekinge lies along the Baltic coast in the southern part of Sweden. The county letter for Blekinge is: K
