| Pastorate | Pastorat | Bitterna is the mother parish in Bitterna, Laske-Vedum and Eling's pastorate.
Bitterna parish arose through the merger in 1817 of Västerbitterna and Österbitterna parishes. After Österbitterna church burned down in 1781, the parish was divided in ecclesiastical terms as follows: the farms Kroken, Skatteg., Per Jonsg., Måns Olofsg., Ravelsg., Stommen, Kyrketorp, Tolag., Myreberg, Ramnö and Bjurdam were transferred to Västerbitterna church. while chair rooms and burial sites in Vedum's church were prepared for the residents of Tubbetorp, Åkatorp, Åsa, Damsholmen, Damsåsen, Haråsen, Ölstorp, Ringstad. Nolg., Storegården, and a home section by Per Jonsg. In February 1787, the Österbitterna parishioners did not come to mt with a request to repair and restore their burned church. K mt, however, could not accept this wish but suggested that the Österbitters should unite with either Västerbitterna or Vedum, whichever the parishioners preferred. The documents then went to Skara Cathedral Chapter, which appointed the pastor of Grolanda Anders Lidmark to hold a meeting with Österbitterna parishioners in Västerbitterna church, whereby they would be allowed to present their wishes. Such a meeting was also held on May 20, 1787, but no decision could be made. A few days after the same meeting, however, the Österbitter parishioners did not send a letter to Lidmark, in which they declared themselves willing to continue with the previous division between Västerbitterna and Vedum. The letter went to the cathedral chapter, which established it. At a provost visit in 1817, the issue was finally decided and a decision was made that the Ostrobothnians would be united with the Västerbittens on a common church. |
