History

Ballyclug is a parish in the union of Ballymena, barony of Lower Antrim, containing, with part of the post town of Ballymena, called the village of Harryville. The living is a rectory and vicarage, in the diocese of Connor. In the Roman Catholic divisions this parish is united to Ballymena: the chapel is situated at Crebilly.

Some registers are available at Braid & Glenravell, which begin in 1825. This area is in the diocese of Connor.

The civil parish of Kirkinriola ( combined with Ballymena) also part of Ahogill, also in diocese of Connor has earliest registers as follows: baptisms: January 1848; marriages: January 1840; deaths: 1852. There are missing dates as follows: marriages: July 1842-January 1847.

These later registers are in the custody of parish church. The National Library of Ireland has a microfilm copy of these registers. The registers have been indexed by the Ulster Historical Foundation (to 1900).

Civil Registration
