Units 1st through 27th

  • 1st Battalion, Alabama Artillery
    1st Artillery Battalion, organized at Fort Morgan, Alabama, in February, 1861. Containing six companies, members of the unit were recruited in the cities of Mobile, Selma, and Montgomery.

  • 20th Battalion, Alabama Light Artillery
    organized at Columbus, Georgia, in November, 1863, with men from Waddell's Battery Associated unit:Waddell's Battery was organized in February, 1862, by taking six men from each company of the 6th Alabama Infantry Regiment. During the siege of Vicksburg it was captured on July 4, 1863. After the exchange its members were assigned to the 20th Alabama Artillery Battalion.

    Semple's-Goldthwaite's Battery completed its organization at Montgomery, Alabama, in March, 1862, with men from Montgomery. In 1865 the company was ordered to North Carolina, but surrendered at Augusta, Georgia

    Jeff Davis Light Artillery was organized at Selma, Alabama, in May, 1861, with men recruited in Dallas, Lowndes, and Autauga counties. surrendered with 1 officer and 26 men.
  • Kolb's Battery, Alabama Light Artillery
    Barbour Light Artillery was organized at Eufaula, Alabama, in April, 1862. Part of Hilliard's Alabama Legion, it was soon detached and served the rest of the war as an independent company.During January, 1865, it moved to North Carolina, but surrendered at Augusta, Georgia
  • Montgomery Alabama Light Artillery
    Montgomery True Blues Light Artillery was formed at Norfolk, Virginia, in January, 1863, with men from Montgomery who had served in the 3rd Alabama Regiment.disbanded at Ridgeway, North Carolina, in April, 1865.
