84th Regiment, Indiana Infantry
Brief History[edit | edit source]
This unit was organized at Richmond and Indianapolis, Indiana, and mustered in September 3, 1862. The regiment mustered out June 14, 1865. The recruits transferred to 57th Indiana Infantry.[1]

Companies in this Regiment with the Counties of Origin[edit | edit source]
Men often enlisted in a company recruited in the counties where they lived, though not always. After many battles, companies might be combined because so many men were killed or wounded. If you are unsure which company your ancestor was in, try the company recruited in his county first.
Companies and general counties of enlistment:
- Company A - men from Randolph County
- Company B - men from Carroll, Delaware and Vigo Counties
- Company C - men from Wayne and Union Counties
- Company D - men from Delaware County
- Company E - men from Randolph County
- Company F - men from Henry County
- Company G - men from Henry County
- Company H - men from Randolph County
- Company I - men from Wayne, Henry and Rush Counties
- Company K - men from Blackford and Delaware Counties
_________________________________________________________________
- Company G - men from Henry County - see Roster at Henry County Genealogical Services. Companies F and G of the 84th Infantry were composed of nearly all Henry County volunteers, mostly from Harrison, Henry and Jefferson townships, and a few from Fayette and Wayne Counties.[2]
