3rd Regiment, Missouri Infantry (3 months, 1861) (Union)
Brief History
This regiment was organized at St. Louis, Mo., April 22, 1861. It was attached to Lyons' Army of the West. Capture of Camp Jackson, St. Louis, May 10. March to Rolla, thence to Springfield, Mo., June 13-24. March to Neosho June 26-30. Retreat to Mt. Vernon, thence to Springfield, Mo., July 5-11. Action at Carthage July 5. Battle of Wilson's Creek August 10. Retreat to Rolla, thence to St. Louis August 11-21. It mustered out September 4, 1861. The Colonel in charge was Franz Sigel. [1]
