Companies in this Regiment with the Counties of Origin[edit | edit source]
Men often enlisted in a company recruited in the counties where they lived, though not always. After many battles, companies might be combined because so many men were killed or wounded. If you are unsure which company your ancestor was in, try the company recruited in his county first.
Companies and general counties of enlistment:
- Company A - men from Pulaski, Miami, Fulton, and Kosciuko Counties
- Company B - many men from Knox County
- Company C - many men from Tipton County
- Company D - many men from Johnson and Marion Counties
- Company E - many men from Morgan and Marion Counties
- Company F - many men from Perry and Pulaski Counties
- Company G - many men from Tippecanoe County
- Company H - many men from Jennings County
- Company I - many men from Marion County and mixture of other counties
- Company K - many men from Dearborn County
